Tripura-Bangladesh book fair 2023 : a 'Srot Publication' initiative

The two-day 'Bangladesh-Tripura Book Fair- 2023' ( powered by ONGC ) was inaugurated on the third floor of Agartala Press Club at five o'clock in the evening to celebrate thirty three years of SROT publication.
Igniting the sacred lamp, renowned author Debabrata Deb inaugurated the fair. In his welcome- speech, Debabrata Deb said “ I have known GOBINDA DHAR since the beginning of SROT Publication. It is never possible without an immense love for literature to persist in such a significant artistic endeavor of sprouting a publication from a remote area like Kumarghat.
Ramkumar Mukhopadhyay, Principal of Publication Department of Rabindra Bharti University presented a speech wishing the success of the fair virtually since he couldn't attend the event physically.
Anwar Kamal, who hails from Bangladesh and is the editor and publisher of Manush magazine, said, “Today's book fair organized by Srot was a milestone in terms of Indo-Bangla friendship.”
Special guest, state's prominent cultural personality and painter Swapan Nandi said, “This effort to develop healthy culture is really commendable.”
Little magazine editors and publishers from Bihar, Assam, Nepal and Bangladesh attended the fair with their books.
Chief guest- Debabrata Deb, Niyati Raybarman , Guest of Honor- Editor of Book Sellers and Publishers Association- Rakhal Majumder, Publisher Bijon Bose, Hasnain Sajjadi, Editor of Purvapaar from Bangladesh, Editor of Puratan Pata Publication- Ramzan Bin Mozammel, Mita Das Purkayastha of Naba Diganta Publications, Assam and Many others expressed their opinions briefly.
All the literary personalities present at the event paid tribute to poet Bijitkumar Bhattacharya, editor of Sahitya Patrika of Hailakandi , Assam, poet Asad Chowdhury of Bangladesh, poet Devi Roy of Hungry Generation, fiction writer Pradeep Sarkar and journalist Partha Sengupta.
Songs were performed by eminent musician Gaur Das. ‘Abriti Neer's recital won the appreciation of the audience.
Eminent folk researcher and essayist Ashokananda Raybardhan presided over the conference.
On the second day, the program commenced at ten in the morning. There were discussions, poetry recitation , music and honoring of prominent people.
Among the topics of discussion was ‘Short stories of Tripura in the context of 80’s riot and Bimal Chowdhury in the centenary.’ Bimal Chakraborty, Debbrata Deb, Dr. Sebika Dhar, Ashokananda Raybardhan participated in the discussion on two topics.
Subhrasankar Das, the vibrant multilingual poet/translator/editor of distinct repute delivered an enlightening speech on the history, evolution , characteristics and other significant aspects of Little magazine including the contribution of Srot publication in the literary spectrum of Tripura and Bengal.
Amirul Islam, Anwar Kamal, Niyiti Taubat man also participated in the discussion on ‘Thirty years of Srot, Tripura's Little Magazine Movement and the publishing industry of Bangladesh'.
The Poets' conference was presided over by Mr. Karpan Hasnai Sajjadi.
Gradually, the President of the program, Ashokananda Raybardhan announced the end of the event with best wishes.
Everyone present was cheerfully captured during the photo session .
The president highlighted that this Tripura Bangladesh Book Fair, a part of the literary and cultural bond of creative currents and aspirations, will take a larger form in the days to come.
